disability management programs promote a three-pronged approach to
employee well-being: physical, emotional and financial health. Medical
expertise is provided to employees through the Sun Advisors FMLA Center,
along with income protection through the Short Term Disability and
Universal Leave programs resulting in enhanced piece of mind for
employees dealing with any leave situation.

Who is eligible for the following benefits?
- Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Employees are eligible for FMLA benefits if they have worked
for a covered employer for at least one year, and for 1,250
hours over the previous 12 months.
- Sheriff's Office employees
should contact the Sheriff's Health, Safety & Compliance
Office regarding FMLA requests
- Tax Collector employees
should contact their Human Resources representative
regarding FMLA requests.
- Short Term Disability
All non-bargaining and Teamster employees of the County
Commission, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Supervisor of Elections
and Sarasota County Property Appraiser (effective Oct. 3, 2009)
- Universal Leave
Non-bargaining employees of the County Commission and
Supervisor of Elections employees (Clerk employees previously
moved to Universal leave)
