| Sarasota County Government and
its educational partners – area public schools, colleges and
universities – are exploring opportunities for collaboration.
Sarasota County Commissioners Jon Thaxton,
Shannon Staub, Carolyn Mason, Nora Patterson and Joe Barbetta
are engaging in a series of discussions about strategies for
enhancing the community’s economic base and sustainability
efforts.
An initial roundtable discussion was held in
June to review existing educational programs and to explore
additional initiatives.

- Lori White, superintendent of Sarasota
County School System
- Lars Hafner, president of the State

- Mike Michalson, president of New College

College of Art and Design
- Arthur Guilford, vice president and CEO
of the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee.
Others participating include the Economic
Development Corporation of Sarasota County.
