| Sarasota County Government and
its educational partners – area public schools, colleges and
universities – will participate in a roundtable discussion 8:30
a.m.-2:30 p.m., Monday, June 15, to share partnership success
stories and consider opportunities for future collaboration.
Debra Jacobs, president and chief executive officer of The
Patterson Foundation, will facilitate the discussion.
County Administrator Jim Ley, along with
Sarasota County Commissioners Jon Thaxton, Shannon Staub,
Carolyn Mason, Nora Patterson and Joe Barbetta will join in the
discussion on strategies for enhancing the community’s economic
base and sustainability efforts.

The event will be held at the Sarasota County School Board
headquarters,
1960 Landings Blvd., Sarasota.
There will be a 15-minute period for public comments at the
end of the meeting.
Among educational partners expected to
participate:
- Lori White, superintendent of Sarasota
County School System
- Lars Hafner, president of Manatee
Community College (State College of Florida,
Manatee-Sarasota)
- Mike Michalson, president of New College
of Florida
- Larry Thompson, president of Ringling
College of Art and Design
- Arthur Guilford, vice president and CEO
of the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee.
Also on hand will be representatives of the
Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County. The
meeting, which will be broadcast on Access Sarasota, is open to
