Citizen Tax Oversight Committee
Governing Legislation:
Ordinance No. 97-083 and Resolution No. 97-263 superseded by Resolution No. 98-023 and 98-314
Purpose: The Citizen Tax Oversight Committee assures the infrastructure surtax project process is fair, open and fully disclosed and that money is allocated appropriately. The committee has nine County Commission-appointed members who meet at least two times a year.
Requirements: - Must be a resident of unincorporated Sarasota County.
- Must not be a full-time Sarasota County employee or a private individual or employee of a private firm under contract with the county.
- Must be free from actual or potential conflict of interest that would prevent an unbiased review.
Term: At-Large Members: four years; District Members: four years
Meetings: As called by the chairman, usually twice a year.
