Sarasota Tree Advisory Council
Governing Legislation:
Ordinance No. 2001-039. Amending Ordinance Nos. 97-013, 88-026 and No. 88-002
Purpose: To make recommendations and advise the Sarasota County Commissioners regarding increased tree canopy, program funding, and urban forestry educational programs to ensure the
continued benefits of tree canopy in Sarasota County. To review and recommend revisions to the tree protection
codes and ordinances, land development regulations and zoning code regarding the protection and replacement of urban canopy. To review, make recommendations, or to carry out any other actions
directed or authorized by the Sarasota County Commissioners.
Requirements:
- There will be eight to 14 members
- Must be a citizen of Sarasota County
- All private members shall serve without pay
- No member shall hold elective office on the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners
- Members may be removed by the Board of County Commissioners for failure to attend three consecutive meetings
Term: Three years
Meetings: To be held on the second Thursday of each month. Meeting locations to be announced.
