Parks Advisory and Recreation Council
Governing Legislation:
Resolution No. 2006-085
Purpose: The purpose of the Parks Advisory and Recreation Council is to make recommendations to the County Commissioners concerning issues relating to parks, beaches, recreation and the acquisition and use of neighborhood parklands.
Requirements: 11 members as follows:
- two members with background and experience in parks and/or recreation
- two members with background and experience in neighborhood interests
- two members with background and experience in real estate or business interests in Sarasota County
- one member with background and experience in environmental interests in Sarasota County
- one Students Taking Active Roles (S.T.A.R.) representative
- three members representing municipal parks and/or recreation interests
one from the City of Sarasota (pursuant to Contract No. 89-485)
one from the City of Venice (pursuant to Contract No. 93-037)
one from the City of North Port (pursuant to Contract No. 2006-346)
(In accordance with inter-local agreements.)
Term: Three years (except S.T.A.R. members have one year terms.)
Meetings: First Thursday of alternating months (January, March, May, July, September, November) from 2:30 p.m. at various park locations.
