A variety of initiatives are under way to drive down costs while improving productivity. The following programs are redefining the way Sarasota County handles healthcare, space, equipment, supplies and energy use.

• Launching a mobile (eWork) workforce: Emerging e-work practices allows employees, such as field inspectors, to report directly to a work site rather than to an office facility — raising employee productivity, decreasing the “employee footprint” of space and energy use, lowering carbon emissions caused by unnecessary transportation, and increasing readiness to support continuity of service in the event of a natural disaster.
