Sarasota County Transportation Authority (SCTA), as Designated Recipient of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5316 – Job Access and Reverse Commute and Section 5317 – New Freedom Program grant funding for the Sarasota-Bradenton Urbanized Area, recently announced the availability of the FTA Section 5316/JARC and Section 5317/New Freedom grant applications. FTA Section 5316/JARC and Section 5317/New Freedom funds are available to support transportation projects in Sarasota-Bradenton Urbanized Area #0061.

FTA Section 5316/JARC funds support projects that provide low-income individuals with transportation to employment and employment-related activities. Section 5316/JARC funds also support reverse commute projects. Section 5317/New Freedom funds support transportation projects for disabled individuals that go beyond the Americans with Disabilities Act.

All proposed projects must be based on transportation priorities developed in the Sarasota-Manatee Locally Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan (LCHSTP). All completed and signed applications are due at Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT), 5303 Pinkney Ave. South, Sarasota, FL 34233 on March 1, 2011, 5 P.M. E.S.T. Applications for funding FY2009 and FY2010 received by March 1, 2011, 5 P.M. E.S.T., will be reviewed and scored on at 8 a.m. on March 25, 2011, by the Selection Committee. The meeting is open to the public.
