One goal of Sarasota County is to develop and maintain a safe, convenient, efficient transportation system which provides for an affordable balance of alternative transportation modes; provides for safe, efficient intermodal transportation linkages; and respects the integrity of environmentally sensitive areas and wildlife habitat.

To accomplish this goal, the county must take a multi-modal approach at planning the transportation systems serving the county.
