| The 2005 Florida Legislature adopted
requirements that strengthen the relationship between land use
planning and development, and planning for public schools and
availability of school capacity.
Under the statewide schedule the
Sarasota County School District, Sarasota County, the Town of
Longboat Key, cities of Sarasota, Venice and North Port
must work together to adopt the necessary comprehensive plan
amendments and interlocal agreements to establish school
concurrency by Oct. 1, 2008
