Woodmere Lakes' completed
landscape grant project is
an example for homes on stormwater ponds. |
The neighborhood
initiative grant program is one of the strategic initiatives
adopted by the Sarasota County Commission to help
residents enhance their neighborhoods' character, value, safety,
health and infrastructure. To accomplish this goal, our
commissioners started the Neighborhood Grant Program. Currently
the program which began in 2003 has $90,000 to fund neighborhood projects
in the coming year. This is a
50/50 matching grant program. Neighborhoods can provide their
50 percent match with cash, donations or volunteer hours which
are credited at $15 per hour.
Who's
Eligible?
Organized resident and homeowner associations and ad-hoc groups
of neighbors in Sarasota County are eligible to apply.
Membership to any of these organizations may include residents,
property owners and businesses. However, sole individuals and
business organizations are not eligible. Non-profits and
community groups may apply jointly with neighborhood groups to
complete neighborhood-related projects that fall under the scope
of the current grant categories.
