Manasota Key, FL 34223
Manasota Beach is located at the
west end of Manasota Beach Road. The beach is situated between
the Gulf and the Intercostal Waterway. As a convenience on the
Intercostals side, a boat ramp and docking facilities are
available allowing access to the Bays and Gulf. The 620 feet of

four concrete picnic shelters, but no restrooms.
- In 1970, 180 feet was added
to the south of the original site and in 1973 the County
purchased 714 feet to the north with financial assistance
from a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant.
- Restrooms were constructed
in 1966, and the boat ramp was added in the early 1980's.
- Spoil from the construction
of the Intercostal Waterway was pumped onto the bay side of
Manasota Beach in the early 1960's.

Update:
The existing restroom facility
was built in 1980 and is in need of significant renovations. A
new facility has been funded by the voter approved penny surtax
funds. The facility will provide for an expanded restroom,
pedestrian pathways and improvements to parking (including
additional ADA parking). Two public meetings were held in
February and March of 2010 where valuable comments were received
and incorporated into the revised plans. The project is
currently in final stages for design and permitting.
Construction is expected to begin in Summer 2011. For additional
information, contact Vinod Sancheti (Project Manager) at
941-861-5000.
Improvements are also in design for the existing boat ramp
parking lot area. These improvements include pedestrian
pathways/connections, dock improvements and an improved parking
area to include paved ADA parking spaces. For additional
information regarding this project, contact Rob LaDue (Project
Manager) at 941-861-5000.
