History:

This site
became the responsibility of the county to operate and
maintain in 1992 as the result of a dual taxation settlement
between the city of Venice and Sarasota County Government.

The site was
subsequently added to an existing inter local agreement
between the city and county that consolidated certain city
owned parks with the County Park System in 1978.(city owned,
county operated)
