What's new about Employee Benefits

It’s a new year – are your benefits selections correct?

Check your Jan. 6 paycheck to be sure. Payroll deductions for 2012 benefits selections will appear on this first paycheck of the year, and discrepancies should be addressed immediately to ensure you receive the correct medical coverage. New in 2012 is a nifty Preventive Medical Code booklet that the Living Well team is developing to help you explain what services are covered 100 percent under our medical plans. Look for them within the next few weeks.

This is also the perfect time to update (or complete) your Health Risk Assessment (HRA). The HRA qualifies for $100 in Medical Insurance Reward Credits that apply toward the POSII deductible or co-insurance, or the Aetna Health Fund.

In addition to establishing a health baseline, the HRA helps you better understand your risks and track your progress over time. It can also be printed out and shared with your doctor to help structure your preventive care plan, which is essential for success with your health goals. Finally, aggregate group data taken from the HRA helps shape the Living Well program and target resources for our employees and families. These factors all contributed to holding premium increases down in past years.

The HRA is easy to do, confidential, and takes only 20 minutes to complete. Spouses covered by either of the county’s medical plans must also complete/update the HRA each year to receive any Medical Insurance Reward Credits.

Gather your most up-to-date lab results, weight and blood pressure, then follow these directions.
