Needs partial shade and moist conditions to thrive. A good urban tree under irrigated or moist conditions. Benefits from laying down mulch under entire drip line. Is susceptible to witches broom dieback.  Tools must be sterilized between plants. Both a male and female plant must be present in the landscape for berry production.
