Project Update – October 2009

The feasibility study has been completed and received by county staff.

A neighborhood meeting was held on March 11, 2009 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the South Gate Community Center. County staff and the project engineer hosted the meeting and presented the feasibility study, the proposed dredge channel and the cost estimate.

On April 24, 2009, staff mailed the Project Unit Approval Petition to the 134 project properties via certified mail. Property owners who support the project need to sign, notarize the petition and submit it to: Paul Semenec, Capital Management Services, 1001 Sarasota Center Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34240. Property owners who do not support the project can simply disregard the petition. No action is needed on their part.

The project will be on hold until the required number of petitions (107, which is 80 percent of the 134 properties) is received. To date, staff has received one petition in support of this project.
