Project Update –
October 2009
At a May 14,
2007 neighborhood meeting, county staff and project consultants
(PBS&J) presented the proposed dredge footprint design and cost
estimate to the benefiting property owners.
Following
that meeting, a Project Unit Approval Petition was mailed to the
270 property owners. In order for the project to proceed, 67
percent of the benefiting property owners must sign, notarize
and return the petition to the county.
The number
of required petitions to move forward is 181.To date, 102
petitions have been received.
On April 8, 2009, staff met with representatives
of The Inlets and Fairwinds to discuss the project and the lack
of support from residents of Fairwinds. The property owners
asked staff for clarification on several issues. A
representative of The Inlets is attempting to schedule a
follow-up meeting to be attended by staff and Fairwinds
residents.
