| If you are new to Sarasota
County and have just purchased or leased a home, or you have
moved to a new location, you will need to activate water and
sewer service. We request two business days notice to activate
or terminate your service. Please call the Utility Billing and
Customer Service Office. A refundable deposit or credit check is
required at the time of application for service.
New water

You can request activation of your service by phone, email, or
in writing. You may download our application for service for
your convenience.
The request
must include:
- customer's name as it will
appear on account
- Social Security number
- service address
- phone numbers (home,
seasonal, work)
- mailing address
- effective date of service
- property closing date or
lease date
- signature of customer of
record
- Payment of security deposit
or acceptable credit score
Deposits for
New Water Service
- For residential water and
sewer customers, the deposit is $150.
- For water only residential
customers, the deposit is $75.
- The deposit may be waived if
you have an acceptable credit score.
- A $15 service activation fee
will appear on your first billing statement.
