Residential Garbage, Recycling and Yard Waste
What to do for your garbage, yard waste and recycling pickup?
  • Garbage, yard waste and recycling are picked up on the same day.
  • Containers and bundles must be set out at your curb for collection by 6 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day.
  • Place trash within three feet of curb for pickup.
  • Cans must not exceed 40 pounds; must be leak proof and waterproof; trash should not protrude more than one foot above the edge.
  • Bags must be closed and unbroken.
  • Cans, bags, and tied bundles must not exceed four feet in length and must weigh 40 pounds or less.
  • Loose trash will not be picked up.
  • Do not mix garbage, yard waste or recycling in the same container.

  • Place yard waste separately at the curb in a garbage can (do not mix yard waste with garbage) or kraft bag that does not exceed 40 pounds and does not protrude more than one foot above the edge of the container. 
    • The use of plastic bags for yard waste is discouraged, but allowed. 
    • Consider composting your yard waste!
  • Branches, limbs and bulky yard waste should be bundled and tied together with string. 
    • Bundles must not exceed 40 pounds or four feet in length. 
    • Bundles should be stacked as neatly as possible at the curb.

Collection Tips

  • Containers weighing more than 40 pounds will not be picked up.
  • All items must fit in the container with the lid closed.
  • Auto parts are not accepted. Contact a scrap metal dealer or junkyard for disposal.
  • Construction material such as drywall, lumber and tile is limited to four, 32-gallon containers.
  • Do not place household hazardous waste, motor oil, recyclables, needles or yard waste in garbage containers or bags.
