Public Workshops
Sarasota County is seeking public input on removing the stipulation for the Special Exception currently allowing only emergency vehicle access from the north to the Central County Landfill in Nokomis. Removing the stipulation may lead to a future extension of Knights Trail Road, which would provide a north/south connector road accessible by the general public in the eastern part of the county and allow entry to the landfill from Clark Road. Sarasota County landfill management and a land management consultant will be available to discuss this change to current stipulations at an upcoming public hearing.

NOTE: At the Oct. 4, 2007 public hearing, the Planning Commission voted 8 to 0 to deny Special Exception 1655. A Sarasota County Commission meeting to discuss the Special Exception will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Venice Community Center, 326 Nokomis Ave., Venice.
