| The ReUzIt Shop inventory comes
from the items brought to the county's Household Chemical
Collection Centers. Rather than pay a hazardous waste company to
dispose of these products, the county decided to open a shop for
county residents and businesses. Shoppers must show photo
identification and must be a least 18 years of age. Sarasota
County reserves the right to limit quantities.
"In addition to saving taxpayer
money on disposal costs, the consumer saves money since the
products at the ReUzIt Shop are free. In essence, shoppers here
are helping to keep down disposal costs - a win-win situation
for all," according to Lois Rose, Hazardous Waste Manager.
 The inventory changes daily and
ranges from:
- automotive products
- cleaners
- pesticides
- plant food
- spray paint
- pool chemicals
- Recycled paint is available
for a nominal fee.
Hours:
Monday - Friday
8 - 11 a.m. and 12 noon to 4 p.m.
