The 374-acre site straddles Interstate 75 west of the Myakka River. The site contains nearly 1.5 miles of river shoreline, pine flatwoods, wetlands, mesic hammocks and unusual low bluffs along the river. Bald eagle nest on the site.

Importance
Conservation of this site will help protect the character and quality of the Myakka River and the adjacent riparian areas.

Status
An additional 86 acres were acquired in 2004, resulting in approximately 300 acres with 1.4 miles of river frontage protected in this site. Florida Communities Trust (FCT) awarded 40% reimbursement ($915,032) for acquisition costs of one parcel and a 45% reimbursement ($484,397) for acquisition costs for parcels included in the Sleeping Turtles grant project.
