Talking trash cans greet
visitors at the Sarasota County Administration Building
and Toledo Blade Elementary, Tatum Ridge, Pine View, Gocio Elementary and Oak Park schools. Patrons of Eager
Beaver Car Wash and Wal-Mart of Osprey also spot the
cans nicknamed the Trash Dude. The talking cans
encourage students, residents and visitors to help keep
Sarasota County beautiful and have fun doing it.
Each Trash Dude has a unique personality, speaking one
of six different phrases such as “Throw it in the can,
man.” The phrases were selected from nearly 1,000
submissions by area grade school students. Keep Sarasota
County Beautiful (KSCB) supplied
the first six Trash Dudes to schools through a grant
from the Florida Department of Transportation.
Businesses and individuals are needed
to sponsor more units for placement at area
schools and businesses. For more information
about how you can be a sponsor, contact Sarasota
County’s Call Center at 941-861-5000 and ask for Keep
Sarasota County Beautiful.

The Trash Dude sponsorship is a creative process.
Trash Dude sponsorships can include your company logo
and a recorded phrase of your choice. The phrase must
contain the word "can" and be approved by Keep Sarasota
County Beautiful. We look forward to talking with you
regarding how your sponsorship can bring awareness of
the litter problem to schools and businesses in our
community.
