Keep Sarasota County Beautiful
Adopt-a-Road, Pond and Spot

Offers businesses and civic groups an opportunity to show an interest in a cleaner community by selecting an area to maintain and beautify. Participation in the program is free. You may know of an area that is littered and needs the attention of your community. The Adopt-a-Road program maintains a list of the top 20 Sarasota County roads in need of adoption. There is a great variety of adoption possibilities. Call us and help our community by Adopting a Road, Pond, or Spot.

If you are interested in adopting a park or helping to keep our beaches and shores clean, please call 861-5000 and ask for Sarasota County Parks and Recreation.

What Keep Sarasota County Beautiful (KSCB) requires

  • Adopted areas are maintained as part of a joint effort to keep our environment clean and healthy
  • Road adoptions require a commitment to clean a 2-mile stretch
  • Participants collect litter and place it in garbage bags for collection
  • After each cleanup, groups submit a cleanup report and a release form to KSCB
  • Groups clean areas a minimum of four times per year
  • Groups are encouraged to schedule cleanups in April to coincide with the Annual Great America Cleanup and
    in September to coincide with the Annual International Coastal Cleanup

What Keep Sarasota County Beautiful provides

  • Safety training
  • Personalized appreciation sign
  • Documentation of your accomplishments, which is ultimately incorporated in local and national Keep America Beautiful reporting
  • Safety vests and trash bags
  • Removal of trash bags
  • Removal of large, heavy or bulky litter and debris
  • Recognition of active adopt group accomplishments
