About Sarasota County Emergency Services |
Sarasota County Fire Department, a division of
Sarasota County Emergency Services, located in Sarasota, Florida
protects 412 square miles with a population of approximately
325,000. Fire and EMS Operations operates a combined twenty-six
(26) Fire-Rescue Stations which make up twenty (20) Fire/Rescue
Stations and six (6) EMS only Stations. The Department operates:
twenty-four (24) First-Out Advanced Life Support Ambulances
five (5) ALS Engines
fifteen (15) BLS Engines
three (3) Ladder Trucks
two (2) Special Operations Vehicle
three (3) Tankers
one (1) Fire Boat
a number of other Emergency Support Vehicles
Sarasota County responds to over 46,000 medical and fire
emergencies annually. Our mission statement is saving lives and
protecting property.
Fire Operations responds to residential and commercial fires,
wild land fires, auto accidents, as well as technical rescues
and hazardous materials incidents. Fire Operations provides the
following services:

Fire Prevention and Public Education
Fire Mitigation
Special Operations
Emergency Medical Services, directed by Dr. Steven Newman,
involves the treatment and transport of patients who have
suffered a sudden illness or injury. Sarasota County provides
Emergency Advanced Life Support with highly trained
Firefighter/Paramedics and Firefighter/Emergency Medical
Technicians. Our cardiac arrest survival rate is among the
highest in the nation. Emergency Medical Services provides the
following services
