Sarasota County’s Fire service
represents over 100 years of dedicated and heroic service by the
professional firefighters, paramedics and EMT’s of your Fire
Department.
Our history dates back to the early 1900s. As a result of some
major fires in 1910, the first organized fire department was
established. As our community grew, we went from being a
volunteer fire department to a paid professional department that
provides “world class” services such as Fire Suppression,
Special Operations, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Prevention,
Public Education, and other services. We pride ourselves in
becoming involved with community events, and believe in showing
our support in local and national causes.
Throughout our history, we have much to be proud of and
thankful for. Starting with the tenuous beginnings of the first
group of volunteers and culminating with a high-performing
professional organization, a tremendous amount of work and
support from many people has helped build this organization into
what it is today. This work refers to the devoted efforts made
to improve our service through continuous training and enhanced
service delivery to those we serve.
The
Sarasota County Fire Department is one of the finest fire
departments in the world. The Sarasota County Fire Department will
never waiver in the relentless pursuit of our mission: “Saving
Lives and Protecting Property”. |
