Manasota Beach is located at the
west end of Manasota Beach Road. The beach is situated between
the Gulf and the Intercostal Waterway. As a convenience on the
Intercostals side, a boat ramp and docking facilities are
available allowing access to the Bays and Gulf. The 620 feet of
dockage becomes a scenic boardwalk that meanders through the
mangroves. A wonderful place to spend your leisure time whether
you are interested in swimming, boating, fishing, walking,
collecting shells.

History:
-
In 1963, Manasota Beach
consisted of 480 feet of gulf frontage. There were four
concrete picnic shelters, but no restrooms.

In 1970, 180 feet was added
to the south of the original site and in 1973 the County
purchased 714 feet to the north with financial
assistance from a Land and Water Conservation Fund
grant.

Restrooms were constructed
in 1966, and the boat ramp was added in the early
1980's.

Spoil from the
construction of the Intercostal Waterway was pumped onto
the bay side of Manasota Beach in the early 1960's.

Blind Pass Beach is located on Manasota Key Road, one mile north
of the Charlotte County line on Manasota Key.

This site was acquired in
stages starting with 400 feet of gulf frontage.

The peninsula on Lemon Bay
was created from spoil when the Intercostal Waterway was
dug in the early 1960's.

1600 feet of gulf frontage
was acquired to the north of the original site in 1983.

In November 1986, 600 more
feet of Gulf to bay property was acquired to the south
of the original site in 1988.
-
In 1989, approximately 400
more feet of Gulf to bay property was purchased by
Sarasota County Government at the north end of the site.
