The mission of Community Services is to
provide educational and recreational opportunities, encourage
community involvement and preserve natural, historical and
cultural resources to make Sarasota County the best place to
live, learn and play. Each of the five business units within
Community Services contributes to the quality of life in
Sarasota County for residents and visitors.
Sarasota County Parks and Recreation provides educational
and recreational opportunities while preserving the county’s
natural and cultural resources.
Sarasota County Libraries provide equal access to
information and resources to support community discussion and
lifelong learning.
UF-Sarasota County Extension provides information and
hands-on learning opportunities about agriculture, natural
resources, sustainability, families, nutrition, youth
development and other topics.
History Center provides the resources for people to
understand and preserve the heritage of Sarasota County.
Office of Community Involvement offers volunteer
opportunities throughout Sarasota County Government, encouraging
active, involved citizens to help build a better community.
