The Charter Review Board reviews and
recommends changes to the Sarasota County Charter for
improvement of County government on behalf of the citizens of
Sarasota County. These recommendations are subject to referendum
in accordance with the provisions of Article VI of the Charter.
An affirmative vote of two-thirds of the Charter Review Board
members is required to recommend amendments for referendum.
The Charter Review Board is composed of ten members, two from
each county commission district, who serve staggered terms of
four years. Members are elected county-wide by the voters of
Sarasota County at the General Election and take office on the
second Tuesday following the General Election. They serve
without compensation.
Meetings are held to organize, elect officers, and conduct
business pursuant to the Charter Review Board bylaws.
