anniversary of the opening of The Legacy Trail will be extra
special this spring with the inaugural "Tour de Parks Bicycle
Fun Ride" at 7 a.m. Sunday, March 28, at the Historic Venice
Train Depot, 303 East Venice Ave., Venice. Participants can

Free Tax Aid to help people file
for valuable tax credits | |
Local
organizations mobilize to reduce HIV/AIDS in the black community |
Free
tax aid is available at locations throughout Sarasota County for
the quick filing of federal individual income tax returns at
AARP Tax Aid sites and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
sites. Residents who earned $48,279 or less last year can use
the VITA tax aid sites in Sarasota County. This service is not
for business returns or complex tax issues. The United Way of
Sarasota County operates Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
sites as part of a coordinated effort between the ...

Local
organizations working year-round to reduce the impact of
HIV/AIDS in the black community will offer free HIV education
and testing at various locations in mid-February, as part of the
10th annual National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day observance.
This year's theme, "HIV/AIDS–A Choice and a Lifestyle," focuses
on educating, empowering and mobilizing the local black
community in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

County focuses on economic development with "Sarasota
Business Today" |
The
Sarasota County Health Department's Health In Motion Mobile
Medical Unit will travel to 15 sites in Sarasota County during
February to offer free H1N1 vaccines along with their other
services. These include Diabetes education and screening, blood
pressure tests, pregnancy testing, HIV and tuberculosis testing,
adult immunizations and health education to those who lack
medical insurance and do not have a healthcare provider.
Assistance with finding a permanent health care provider is also
available.

Sarasota
County has launched a new public service news program called
"Sarasota Business Today." The program focuses on a spectrum of
county economic development initiatives and local businesses,
with the theme of: Live. Work. Learn. Play. The monthly program,
produced with the Economic Development Corporation, appears on
